| Sutherland OrchardThe Food Connection planted 30 apple trees, 90 blueberry bushes, and two gooseberry bushes in October 2009 in a new orchard that will produce organic fruit for our clients. It is located at L'Arche Tahoma Hope Farm & Gardens in Tacoma. | ||||
When can the fruit be harvested? The blueberry and gooseberry bushes will likely produce a small crop during the 2010 season, while the apple trees will begin producing in two to three years.
How to Help If you would like more information about the Sutherland Orchard, or if you would like to volunteer for the fruit harvest this season, contact Rebecca Goossen at jvgleaner@foodconnection.org or (253) 383-5048.
