Director - Kevin Glackin-Coley E-mail

Prior to coming to the St. Leo Food Connection in March 2005, Kevin spent three years as a lobbyist, focusing primarily on health and human service issues. For one of those years he was the Advocacy and Legislative Relations staff person for the Children’s Alliance, a statewide advocacy organization for issues related to children and families. Before that, he spent two years as the Associate Director of the Washington State Catholic Conference, the public policy voice of the Catholic Bishops of Washington State. He spent five years as Director of Detention Ministry for the Archdiocese of Seattle, where he coordinated chaplain services for incarcerated adults and juveniles, developed transition programs for former offenders, and initiated outreach to victims of crime. For two of those years he also served as a co-chair of the Partnership for Community Safety, a statewide task force working to develop stable housing options for high-risk offenders transitioning back to the community. Prior to that, he served as the Director of Nativity House, the only drop-in center for the homeless in Tacoma.

Volunteer Coordinator - Cari Tillery E-mail

Among those living in the Pacific Northwest, there are jokes about folks with webbed feet and mossy backs as a result of living in our moderate, rainy climate. If loving the country and the climate have anything to do with that, then Cari Tillery is in trouble! Born and raised in Tacoma, WA, Cari can't envision living anyplace else. In addition to those early roots, Cari put down her own roots with home ownership, where she is raising her daughter.

Presently, Cari is the Volunteer Coordinator for the St. Leo Food Connection, a job to which she brings over 15 years experience covering all aspects of the operation. Her early experience was as a junior high school volunteer. From that early age on, Cari has had an expanded sense of what "family" means. To her, "family" is not a restrictive word referring to only biological connections. "Family" means people you genuinely enjoy being around, folks on whom you can depend. From this there is a natural growth of a sense of community. For that family and that community, Cari's goal is to have a peacefully flowing food delivery operation.

As to the future, Cari sees herself being a college student and somewhere in life's process helping her daughter become a strong, self-assured, independent person. You might also catch her "gig" in one of Tacoma's popular comedy clubs, where she has been very successful as . . . yes! . . . our resident comedienne!!

Operations Coordinator - Dawn Whitman E-mail

Dawn came to us originally as a Washington State Service Corps member. She was such a hit that we asked her to stay. As Operations Coordinator, Dawn's duties keep her pretty busy. Her area of responsibility includes overseeing the portioning and distribution of food. Community Service workers as well as volunteers all participate in this effort. Her organization skills have been a terrific asset to the St. Leo Food Connection.

Operations Supervisor - Rene Ried

IT Support - Larry Weakly E-mail

Administrative Assistant - Dee Long E-mail

Dee Long has worn many hats in her long association with the St. Leo Food Connection. She has been director and truck driver, production manager, and administrative assistant. At the moment she works in the administrative office, affectionately called, "Egypt," where she keeps a staff of volunteers productive. Without her, the job couldn't be done.

Office Manager - Suzanne Tate

Suzanne is one of our volunteer Office Managers and member of the management council. She brings great intelligence to this position, as well as greatly needed organizational skills. She helps, when necessary, to process requests for food, and she is the voice you will most likely hear if you call us (253-383-5048). In 1997, Suzanne moved to Tacoma from California with her daughter to be nearer her family. As a favor, she was asked to answer the phone for two weeks at the St. Leo Food Connection production office desk. She has been here ever since. She enjoys the friends she has made.
